Check out this Science blog from Anya and Ruby!
Today we were extracting DNA from a kiwi. We saw
bubbles with white lines, that was the kiwi's DNA. We used fairy liquid, salt,
and cold alcohol. The point of doing this is because we were learning about
DNA.
We mushed kiwi and fairy liquid to break down the
cells and then added salt to break down the membranes even more. Then we
filtered it out so we were left with DNA. Then we got ice cold alcohol and
watched at the DNA particles rise out of the liquid. The point of this is
because we were learning about plant and animal cells.
